Book Launch Evening

On the 25th May 2026, about 40 people gathered together in Brooks Hotel in Dublin to celebrate the launch of our book 'The Impossible Choice’. It was an evening filled with love and tears as we celebrated the book going live on Amazon after many months of hard work. We were joined by some of the wonderful midwives, fetal and bereavement from the Dublin Maternity hospitals along with members of NWIHP, Feileacain, members of the pregnancy loss research group and the Abortion Support Network and of course, friends and family too. It was great to have the chats in a relaxed environment and catch up outside of the usual meetings and official business!

It was also so lovely to see some of our LMC families there including many Momas whose stories featured in the book. Along with some wine and nibbles, we had readings from the book and it was bittersweet as we remembered our babies but also some of the hard times we went through in the lead up to, during and after we had them. Monika, Christine and Emma courageously read excerpts from their stories which each showed some of the challenges that families go through when dealing with this.

It was great to get the word out there that our book exists and is available to anyone going through any sort of poor foetal diagnosis. Sometimes reading others’ stories can help you to feel less alone when you’re going through it and to realise that all the emotions and thoughts that you’re having are completely normal.

As the evening drew to a close, the books were available for anyone to take if they chose and are available in the hospitals for families as they need or want them. Our hope is that they will help other women to know that others have walked this path before them and have survived to reach the other side.
